Lessons
How Active Reading works
The lesson structure and program runs as follows;
- Each lesson costs $60 dollars ($50 if booking 6 lessons in advance).
- Lesson times can be organised for Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays. You can call, text message (0458 205 398) or email (activereadingashfield@gmail.com) to arrange a time or discuss any questions.
- Each lesson will be divided up into a variety of subsections where your child will be taught a broad range of skills and strategies to begin progressing in reading ability.
- Lessons include exploring a range of interesting children's books, games to help students learn how to communicate using more challenging vocabulary.
- Phonological awareness skills.
- Comprehension strategies and much more.
About us
Raymond Hope, Teacher
Raymond has 20 years teaching experience working with children experiencing difficulty learning and has taught over 1,000 students how to read.
The main focus of his career has been supporting students experiencing language-related learning difficulties, dyslexia, hyperlexia, decoding and phonological learning issues.
Raymond has been involved in the teaching of reading theory and practical application to Bachelor of Education students at the University of Sydney for over 15 years for the special education component of the degree.
He has presented at numerous conferences about effective ways of supporting students struggling in schools and done consultation work for the private schools and the NSW Department of Education.
Raymond enjoys teaching students how to read and working with parents to get the best results possible.
What is Active Reading?
Active Reading is a reading tuition centre located adjacent to Ashfield train station on Hercules St, Ashfield. The main goal of the Reading Centre is to develop high quality reading programs for struggling students to help them learn to read.
It is active in the sense that students are provided time to work through a wide variety of fundamental reading skills in thoughtful and engaging ways.
