Assistive Technology

Assistive Technology training

In recent years the development of voice to text, text to voice and scanning pens have come a long way and can be a life saver for students experiencing difficulty reading the same texts as their peers in classes who traditionally relied on teacher's and their aides to repeatedly read instructions to students and record feedback. These technologies have become a game-changing shift in allowing students to work independently but for some, understanding how to effectively use these technologies independently can be a huge struggle in itself.

What kinds of Assistive Technology can Active Reading help with?

Active Reading can help teach your child how to effectively use reader pens (text to voice) and understand when they do and do not need to use them in the classroom.

Active Reading also helps train students and parents how to effectively set up and use Ipads in the classroom. Active reading makes use of high quality noise cancelling headsets and also gives advice on how to encourage classroom teachers to support its use in the regular classroom context.
